Frank Walsh Drilling are Drilling Contractors for the Mineral Exploration Industry.
Since 1987 the Company has been heavily involved in mineral exploration drilling, carrying out RC programs in Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland for companies such as Newcrest (Tuckabianna and Ora Banda), Outokumpu (Forrestania) Resource Investigations, Coolgardie Gold, Delta Gold (Kanowna Belle), Ausmin, Eon Metals, National Resources, Ernest Henry, BHP Minerals, Pasminco, Crakow Resources, Dominion Mining, Euro Exploration, Hillgrove Resources, Minotaur, Oz Minerals and SKM.
The Company operates two large top-head drive, custom built Drilling Rigs - R.F.W tri-drive and R.F.W 8x8. They are both designed for:
+ Deep hole exploration and large diameter water programs
+ Additional features include 2050 cfm x 1000 psi compressor capacity with booster and auxiliary
+ Quick change angle drilling capacity
+ R.C rotary hammer and rotary mud drilling
+ Large capacity water, foam and polymer injection system
+ 1000 metre sand line winch
The R.F.W tri-drive also has:
+ Heavy lift capacity and mast length to handle 12m casing
+ Equipped with special safe rod handling system
Both Drilling Rigs are accompanied with an extensive on site back up maintenance capacity (welders, spare parts, etc.) and self-contained camping facilities.
Over the past decade Frank Walsh Drilling has carried out the majority of the R.C Drilling and water supply programs at the Prominent Hill Mine Site in Northern South Australia. R.C holes have been up to 600m deep through typically South Australian very deep sedimentary cover followed by extremely
hard and abrasive hard rock basement. The water drilling program has consisted of large diameter holes up to 550 m deep.
This Drilling program is still ongoing today.
